It's been awhile, I know...
So where to begin, where to begin. Well, Lisa and I are expecting baby #2 towards the end of August, this time it is a girl. Atilana Vera Golden, named after Lisa's grandmother on her dad's side and my mothers sister. It is going to be hectic but we will do just fine.
I am happy and pleased to announce the formation of Oak Ridge Fellowship which happened on March 31st, Jesse, Christine, Lisa, myself finally were able to sit down and go over and hash out everything that we have been talking about and planning this past year and a half or so. We will be formally formalizing at Midsummer during blót and are greatly looking forward to it. We have already made the announcement but wanted to also do something a little more ritualized so we decided to incorporate it into the days event following the sacrifice.
I have a little something in the works that will be said during the ritual but I am keeping my cards close to the vest on this one.
I did some minor work in the grove, making a better outline of the mound I made with larger, flatter stones and made it higher. I also reseeded and planted ground cover on both my mound and the Laerad mound. I also outlined with stones an area inside the grove where the bones, hide etc. from the sacrifice will go. I rake out the entire grove each spring and by making this inner area for the bones and such I do not have to worry about accidentally raking any of them out.
I am sorry to say the heathen worship paper I worked on didn't make it into Óðrœrir because I was unhappy with it and kept editing and re-editing and did not make the deadline in time. I hope to have it in for the third issue along with the gifting paper I recently finished which honestly I think is my best one yet.
I hope to have more to say as time goes on so stay tuned!!!
